Gilbert syndrome as a risk factor for the development of cholelithiasis in children

Introduction/Objective. Gilbert syndrome (GS) is the most common hereditary hyperbilirubinemia. As well as mild unconjugated hyperbilirubinemia, it characterized by excess of bilirubin monoglucuronide over diglucuronide in bile and thus increases risk biliary calculosis. The aim study was to determine importance GS a factor development cholelithiasis children. Methods. included sample 31 children (14 male 17 female, mean age 12.16 ? 4.11 years, range 3?16.75 years) with symptomatic cholelithiasis. diagnosis based on an ultrasonographic finding, for at least double increase fraction after three-day hypocaloric diet (400 kcal per day). Results. confirmed five or 16.13% patients (three two 14.71 0.55 14?15.3 years). In addition GS, history disease they all had some additional factors One them identical problem its mother, one elliptocytosis, sudden weight loss, overweight, premature birth sepsis. Conclusion. registers one-sixth cholelithiasis, but none only developing this disease. This finding suggests that not sufficient itself respect.
